About
How Chemical Peel Works
Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a medium-strength chemical peel for hyperpigmentation, designed for people who want to improve and rejuvenate glowing skin by addressing hyperpigmentation, dark spots, skin texture, and wrinkles and rejuvenating healthier glowing skin. It’s quick, easy, and safe on all skin types.
As with most peels, it contains Salicylic Acid. It also has a blend of lactic and glycolic acids and it has extra calming agents like Willow Bark and Licorice Root, to help soothe your skin. Because of these extra additives to help soothe your skin the peel is ideal for people with sensitive skin.

- A chemical peel is a skin-resurfacing treatment that uses a special acid solution to exfoliate and remove damaged outer skin layers. It promotes new cell growth, revealing smoother, clearer, and more even-toned skin beneath. It’s commonly used to treat acne scars, sun damage, and dullness.
- Chemical peels help reduce acne scars, fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and uneven texture. They also unclog pores and improve skin radiance. Regular peels can enhance collagen production, giving your skin a smoother, youthful glow.
- Yes, chemical peels are highly effective for reducing acne scars. They exfoliate the damaged skin layers, encouraging new cell growth and collagen formation. Light to medium-depth peels work best for shallow scars, while deeper peels may be recommended for more severe scarring.
- Chemical peels can be safe for sensitive skin when customized properly. At Lenoy Medical Spa, we offer gentle peels designed specifically for sensitive skin types. A consultation helps us select the right strength and formula for your skin’s needs.
- After a chemical peel, you may experience mild redness, flaking, or peeling for a few days. Avoid sun exposure and follow post-peel instructions for best results. Recovery time varies based on the peel’s depth but usually lasts 3–7 days for light to medium peels.
- Side effects are usually temporary and include redness, dryness, and peeling. Rarely, deeper peels may cause more sensitivity or uneven pigmentation. When performed by licensed professionals, chemical peels are generally safe for most skin types.
- Light chemical peels can be done every 3–4 weeks, while medium peels may be spaced 6–8 weeks apart. Your provider will recommend the best frequency based on your skin goals and tolerance.
